My Experience

Lucky for me, I’ve had the privilege of visiting Sydney multiple times during my travels, thanks to having family and friends there. Each trip has only reinforced how much the city has to offer. Sydney delivers an impressive blend of iconic landmarks, stunning beaches, and a diverse, mouth-watering food scene. The vibrant atmosphere and wide range of activities make it difficult to narrow down the top recommendations, there’s simply so much to see and do. Sydney’s unique mix of urban buzz and natural beauty means you can enjoy scenic harbor views, famous sights, and laid-back coastal walks all in one day. Yes, it can be a bit pricey and crowded at times, but the energy, charm, and endless opportunities for exploration keep drawing me back. With its ideal location and variety of experiences both within and beyond the city, Sydney truly sets the stage for unforgettable adventures.

Must-See Places

Sydney Harbour Bridge

It's always incredible to admire the views from the top of a building, bridge or statue. If you choose to embark on this challenging adventure, the views of the city will leave you speechless. With approximately 1,332 steps to reach the summit, this bridge is one of the most popular climbing destinations in the world. The cost of your climb will depend on the type of activity you opt for, with prices starting from $294 AUD. The duration of the climb can be from 2.5 to 3.5 hours, allowing ample time to soak in the awe-inspiring surroundings.

Bondi Beach

Looking to experience Sydney's vibrant beach culture? Then look no further than Bondi Beach! This renowned destination offers the perfect setting for relaxation, swimming and catching waves. You also have the option to embark on a coastal stroll from Bondi to Coogee which offers stunning views and numerous unique beaches along the way. If you want to test your boundaries in the water, why not seize the opportunity and take a surfing lesson while you are there. The team of skilled instructors will guarantee your safety all while ensuring you have a blast throughout the day. You will learn the fundamentals of surfing and get the opportunity to enhance your surf knowledge and boost your confidence in the water. Getyourguide offers an exciting activity, catering to every level and experience. Just remember to take your sunscreen!!

The Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House. As it holds a prestigious spot on UNESCO's World Heritage list, it is an absolute must-visit in Sydney. When I visited, I discovered an interesting fact about this incredible building 'It is covered in over 1 million roof titles'. Once you stand in front of it, you'll understand why such a masterpiece required such extensive time and effort. You can explore the building with a guided tour to discover its rich history or immerse yourself in a captivating performance inside one of its numerous theatres.

My tip: For a truly exceptional experience, you have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal and refreshing drink right in front of the Opera House, at the 'Opera Bar'. I can't recommend this enough if you are looking for a unique adventure while exploring this incredible place! Book here →

Wollongong

Famously referred to as 'The Gong', is a coastal city located south of Sydney and can be reached by train in approximately 1.5-2 hours. As you come into the city on the train, you will be welcomed by the white sandy beaches. Some locals claim that the sand from Port Kembla now famously sits in Waikiki, Hawaii. Personally, I may be a bit biased since my sister lives there but the atmosphere is truly great and the beaches are perfect for a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Unforgettable Moments

Blue Mountains

No trip to New South Wales is complete without a visit to a unique location. The Blue Mountains which is a short train ride from the city. This magnificent natural marvel is an absolute must-visit for those who love nature. Allow yourself to discover the enchanting allure of lush green forests, be captivated by the renowned 'Three Sisters' rock formation and feel the exhilaration and experience the thrill of riding the world's steepest railway. If you aren't sure how to get there, definitely consider taking a tour out there, where they can provide you all the necessities for the day.
