My Experience

Venice is a city like no other, where history, art, and romance flow through its canals instead of streets. Known for its enchanting waterways, stunning architecture, and rich cultural heritage, Venice offers a truly magical experience. Venice is often bustling with tourists, making it a lively but sometimes pricey place to stay overnight. If you're looking for more budget-friendly options, nearby cities like Padua and Treviso are great alternatives. Personally, I chose to stay in Mestre because it was convenient for accessing Venice. Mestre also boasts excellent transport connections, with regular trains and buses to Venice, making it an ideal spot for exploring the city. Plus, it provides a more relaxed atmosphere away from the crowds, which is perfect for unwinding after a busy day in Venice. Check out the transport pass, which offer multiple options to consider for traveling to and from Venice.

Must-See Places

City Views

One of the best ways to take in stunning panoramic views of Venice is by visiting the St Mark’s Campanile also known as Campanile di San Marco, which is the bell tower located in Piazza San Marco. Standing at nearly 100 meters tall, this tower offers some of the most breathtaking views of the city, its canals, and the surrounding islands. The ride to the top is quick and easy, thanks to an elevator that takes you to the observation deck, where you can soak in the incredible 360-degree views of Venice. Tickets typically range from €12 to €15 (EUR), depending on the booking platform, or if you choose to purchase them on the day.

Unforgettable Moments

Gondola Experience

As soon as you set foot in Venice, get ready for an adventure filled with excitement and a touch of romance at every corner. Starting with a gondola ride which is one of the most iconic and romantic ways to explore the city. These traditional wooden boats, steered by gondoliers in striped shirts, glide through the serene canals, offering a unique perspective of Venice’s stunning architecture and hidden corners. The experience typically lasts around 30-40 minutes, allowing you to see the picturesque canals, charming bridges, and historic buildings up close.

Food Tour

Of course, we can’t forget the ultimate local food tours—something I always make sure to do, especially in Italy, where food is a way of life. How can you visit Italy and not indulge in the mouthwatering flavours that have made it famous around the world? For me, the best way to experience this is through local walking and food tours. You get the best of both worlds: discovering the charming streets of Venice while savouring incredible dishes, all led by passionate local guides who know the hidden gems. The tour typically lasts about 3 hours, depending on your guide and how many questions you throw their way at the end! 😄 This was one of my favourite experiences, and I wholeheartedly recommend it during your visit to Venice. And don’t forget to leave a review—it helps support local businesses and ensures their continued success!

Would I return?

Absolutely!

Venice offers a distinctive experience, with its unique atmosphere and character evident throughout the city. From winding canals to lively neighbourhoods, it encourages exploration and curiosity. While wandering its streets, enjoying local food, or taking in the surroundings can be rewarding, the city can sometimes feel crowded and less tranquil than expected. Even so, Venice has its own charm and cultural appeal, and a visit can still leave you with memorable moments and a deeper appreciation for its beauty and history.
